Hello~?
no subject
Hiii! [their voice is so soft and sing-songy.] Over here. It's almost ready!
no subject
Oh, I'm glad I wasn't too late! I cannot wait to try it! Do you often make your own ice cream?
[He'll make himself small in the kitchen to stay out of the way politely, his staff watching with interest.]
no subject
I do. Not that I dislike when it's made by others, but I can control the exact flavor and how quickly it's frozen and aerated.
[assuming the staff does indeed function as pure vanilla's eyes, in full view of it, kiera waves their hand over a mixing bowl of nearly-formed ice cream. sure enough, the liquidy contents seem to mix with a controlled breeze of air carrying the tiniest crystals of ice. and given maybe another half minute of that, viola! solid ice cream with purple swirls from the fresh blackberry chunks throughout.]
no subject
[Oh!! Pure Vanilla is delighted to see elemental magic, and he watches with almost childlike glee. Especially as it stiffens the ice cream as it mixes.]
That's quite handy! Were you born with your abilities?
[It's very difficult for Cookies to touch elemental powers unless they're blessed with them. They're too primal, too real. Yet she controls the ice as easily as Frost Queen might have, with a simple wave of her hand. And then the ice cream is done, and it's a lovely shade of purple, and it's going to be hell on top of dill and vanilla, but he doesn't know this.]
no subject
... lucky for pv, she's just more glad to have ice cream. though she's just as generous scooping into a bowl for him as she is for herself.]
I had to hone them over time. Where I'm from, many people can learn at least a little magic with the proper discipline.
I hope you enjoy it.
no subject
It is the same in my world, yet elemental magic such as ice is beyond our grasp for the most part. We find it far easier to use magic that is more in line with who we fundamentally are.
[He very carefully takes a little bit of the ice cream to taste it and immediately looks delighted.]
Delicious, my friend! It is perfect!
[The happiest of Peepaws right here.]
no subject
[it's clearly a rhetorical question. one that they don't seem to care whether or not it's appropriate -- they'll surely find out from pv's reaction. and of the few cookies they're familiar with, he seems quite forgiving.]
I'm glad you like it.
no subject
Ah, if only it worked that way, for indeed, most cookies are covered in icing! It makes up our hair and clothes.
[ Argh, his head hurts from the brain freeze, he will poke at his ice cream gently while waiting for that to subside. ]
no subject
Oh, I'm terribly sorry! It wasn't my intention to choke you at all! Are you alright?
no subject
I am all right! A little ice cream inhale and brain freeze can't stop me for long!
[ His lungs are cold. ]

Kiera, may I have a moment?
[ Ambrosia's head instantly comes up from where she was laying in her stall, the tall ass Chocobo climbing to her feet to instantly hang her head over to get beak rubs and feather scratches. ]
no subject
pinto may side-eye kiera. the jealousy is strong in this one.]
Of course. You and your very large chicken. I was wondering to whom she belonged.
no subject
[ The giant bird turns her head around and down to lower her beak towards Kiera, turning her head to view her better out of her eye. The proceeds to fluff her feathers up and 'wark' in greeting. Then dip her head down further. Clive huffs a laugh. ]
She's asking if you'll scratch her feathers against the back of her head.
no subject
kiera tosses her a sugarcube to placate her for now. settle down, girl, kiera has another beautiful lady to pet!! they graciously accept the offer, moving slow and in ambrosia's eyeline even though she was the one to ask for attention. kiera must have experience with some sort of bird or another, because they know exactly how to rub and scritch at the feathers.]
Thank you, Lady Ambrosia. You are quite striking... and I can't help but notice we match! I'm honored.
no subject
Hello there. Sorry for interrupting.
[ Ambrosia is old and wise, and won't take offense to the snorting. Instead she warbles and turns her head, eye closing contently. Clive smiles a little. ]
She also asks if you got it saving the life of a wayward chick.
no subject
(sorry, the horse is rude.)
kiera, on the other hand, is having the time of their life.]
Aha... No, though I commend your noble efforts. I was only a hatchling, myself, when I earned mine.
no subject
May I?
[ Ambrosia doesn't seem to like that idea that Kiera was injured as a chick, lifting her head a little to begin preening Kiera's hair in turn. Clive glances over, amused. ]
She's saying some choice things about your herd for not protecting you well enough. Careful, or she might sit on you.
[ How those tiny little Chocobo chicks survive is unknown to him when she plops on them. ]
no subject
You can try, but I can't promise she won't bite. Be gentle, but firm.
[their laugh is soft and airy when ambrosia decides to preen them back.]
Ah, darling, don't worry. My new flock is far more caring. I'm going to hazard a guess you've met my nestmate?
no subject
[ He waits a moment for the horse to absorb this, then carefully steps forward to begin brushing down her mane. It's not unlike hair, but very different from feathers. There's no feather shafts to be careful of, so he goes cautiously.
And smiles as he listens to Ambrosia as she tilts her head back with a bunch of hair caught in her beak. There. Much better, before shaking her beak free and grinding it gently. ]
And I quote "They are quite a peaceful herd, I rarely hear any squabbling. It is the one Clive-" Okay, I'm not saying that. Yes, she's seen him.
no subject
meanwhile, kiera laughs good-naturedly at the snag, and at the chocobo's translated words.]
Aha, I thought as much. Thank you very much, Ambrosia. You are truly lovely.
no subject
I do need a haircut, don't I?
[ He's aware his hair looks Like That.
Ambrosia bobs her head and waits, expectantly. Clive oh's. ]
Bag by her door, she likes beets.
[ There's some root vegetables in there. Carrots too. But that also reminds him and he pauses brushing to reach into his pocket, fetching a brilliant orange gem to hold it out to Kiera. ]
Right. I'm making your brother something, and was wondering if you would put some energy into this.
no subject
once they turn to accept the stone with raised brows, and clive is sufficiently distracted... pinto reaches out for his hair again, though now she just teases at it with her lips. hello? she is still here and likes being brushed, and also that beetroot looked really tasty! just saying!]
What exactly is it you're making?
no subject
The tug on his hair makes him laugh and reach up to rub that nose. ]
Okay, hold on, let go. Beet? Carrot? There's corn in there too, I think.
[ What can horses eat? He waits until he's released to go over to the bag to pull some things out. ]
A method to shut the Phoenix up. I can't punch it, or kill it, yet but the stone with the right enchantments will act as a barrier when activated.
[ He carefully holds the items out for the horse, palm flat for one but his right hand lightly curled. But she can get around the stone fingers to choose. ]
no subject
pinto whickers and paws at the ground, rearing her head back to look at him expectantly. all of the above, please! and she will take it all if allowed, at which point clive will become her third favorite person in the grove.
as they hold the stone in their hand, the lighthearted feeling of the moment fades to something cold and hard in their gut. where did clive get the idea for such a thing? and why didn't they think about it first? is it even possible for such a thing to work as intended, or will it only end up making the phoenix angrier and using it as an excuse to hurt luca further?]
... Do you know for certain it will function properly?
no subject
I hope so. It's been blessed by the guardians, Joshua and myself have offered energy to it, and I felt it right the third should be you.
[ He picks up the brush again to gently go back to Pintos mane, frowning a little thoughtfully as he does. ]
It's... something, at any rate. If it doesn't work, I'll think of something else.
[ There's determination in his voice. Ambrosia makes a deep raptor like noise and moves to settle herself back down again. Right onto some Tomas chicks, spreading her wings to make sure they're all covered. Clive answers her with an amused: ]
It's in another world, I can't.
[ The most chicken grunt ever. ]
no subject
kiera turns the stone over in their hands, contemplating. she very nearly says aloud that if it backfires and hurts him, she'll kill all of them, including herself. ultimately decides that's a bad idea and in poor humor, given that she would take the threat too seriously if clive said something similar.
as she summons a tiny whirlwind of snow over the crystal, she glances to Clive once more.]
What can't you do?
no subject
[ His expression is a humorless little smirk, before he finally backs away from Pinto to join Kiera again, the smirk fading away. ]
As much as I'm a God killer, if there's no actual God to fight...
[ A half shrug with his shoulder, watching her summon the snow. That makes him smile a little more relaxedly. It's not unlike Jill with Shiva. Small and precise, something he can't do. ]
no subject
they stare deeply into the stone, their hand shaking once before they force it still once more.]
I must admit, I'm relieved you're unable to access it. Luca is tied intrinsically to the Beast. Killing it may very well kill him.
no subject
[ He sighs on 'blessed', the tone saying 'cursed'. He leans himself against a pole of the barn, studying the other animals in their stalls. Ambrosia warbles and coos nonsense to the chicks, and his eyes land on the cow. The hells is that. ]
I'm more than willing to find a way to 'untie' them, however, before finding a way to kill it. I would never hurt Luca.
no subject
I'm inclined to believe it wouldn't be such an issue with the other Beasts. There are those Blessed by the Wolf, the Fox... the Butterfly. Each of them are many. Luca, being the Phoenix's only heir... [kiera, and even luca, has no true way of knowing what would happen, if they were to kill it. but kiera isn't willing to risk it.
they glance to ambrosia, to pinto, to clive. following a discussion that seemed very difficult for them, the smile on their lips is surprisingly tender.]
I can tell. You're very gentle with him. [he needs that, she doesn't say, but the sentiment is clear.]
no subject
And he nods to show he understands. ]
It may have tied him more thoroughly than others might have tied theirs. It's a risk and you don't want to find out the hard way.
[ The smile and 'very gentle' makes him huff softly and turn a little red. ]
It's easy to be, with him.
[ And not because Luca is fragile or anything like that. ]
Thank you, Kiera.
no subject
she steps closer, to offer the gem back to him.]
Was that all I needed to do?
no subject
[ After taking the gem back and tucking it away into his pouch, he reaches out again to clasp her hand. A warm, firm squeeze, his expression soft.
... Actually as way of thanks, he glances towards Ambrosia, then to Kiera.
Tilts his head inquisitively. Want to ride her? ]
no subject
It's probably obvious as to why. Luca oscillates between looking at Clive with furrowed brows, and looking anywhere but. Asked about it, he'll brush Kiera off, or try to play it off
At least until the last patron leaves. Only then does Luca shift and... take a seat at the bar. There's a loud thunk as he flops down.]
no subject
once they're all gone and he plops his own ass onto a barstool, she'll look up from her measly little closing tasks and shoot him a wry smile.]
And what will you be having, stranger?
no subject
Advice. Please.
no subject
Good grief. We both know you're barking up the wrong tree, but alright, I'll humor you your Tending Bar Entry Exam.
So long as you let me drink on the job.
no subject
[He flaps his hand a few times. It's as good of a yes as any. Otherwise, Kiera's going to have to deal with some muffled chatter.]
I worry I'm not good enough for him, Kiera. He's a good man, and I'm...
[Another hand flutter.]
no subject
... a good man as well.
I don't see the issue.
no subject
[He makes another noise, before finally lifting his head to stare at Kiera. Or try, at least. His hair is kind of everywhere.]
I met someone in Cataega. We were awful for each other but... I liked that. I wanted to be carved up and bloody when everything was said and done.
And Clive? He deserves something better than that. Gentle. Loving. And I fear I no longer know how to give that.
no subject
it takes them a long moment of staring off, fingers gripping the bar until their knuckles blanch, before they relax once more with one of their all too convincing false smiles.]
Too bad you're here now!
[another shot, because they can, and because fuck this.]
Sure, you know. Those aren't things you are, they're things you choose to do. And I've seen you choose them, time and again. You've chosen to do "good," talking down our enemy rather than allow our allies to slay her. You've treated me with kindness, welcoming me back into your graces rather than pushing me away -- which you'd be well within your rights to do, given how I've treated you. You're gentle each day with Polaris, with our younger residents.
You're a smart man, Luca. I'm sure you'll think of ways you can apply these things to a... partner. [for his sake, they don't say that word with any sort of derision, as they normally would.]
no subject
... he almost missed it.
Instead, Luca focuses on what Kiera says. She... really does make a valid case. Even if he doesn't agree with the words, the effort means much to Luca. He knows these topics are difficult, if not outright alien to her. The fact that she tries at all means everything to him.]
Every day is a struggle to do so. It was... so much easier when I could mindlessly break and destroy. I don't remember how I ever managed kindness before. Not when everything is as... cruel as it is.
no subject
Is it a struggle, or does it only seem so when you think about it? From my perspective, it appears to come easy to you, still, when you have the opportunity. I think the biggest obstacle you get tangled up in is your own mind.
no subject
Or was, until she called him the fuck out. He huffs once, lowering his head once more.]
Maybe you are onto something. But I would hate to get so wrapped up in Clive, only to find that I was unsatisfied. He would deserve far better than that.
no subject
It sounds like you ought to discuss all of this with him, as terrifying a prospect as it is.
no subject
I was trying to avoid that. [He huffs against the wood grain.] Since when do you talk sense, anyway?
no subject
is what kiera wants to say, but they're very hesitant to tease luca on this matter, currently. they don't want to give him any more reason to be antsy about it.
no, instead, they strain the spices from the tea, add a generous amount of honey, and a shot of that brandy. and just in case he isn't interested, they pour a short glass of apple juice as well, pushing them both over to him.]
Did you not come here specifically asking me to knock some sense into you?
no subject
Hmph. If I did, I would never give you the satisfaction of knowing that was the case. [Aaaand after a second.] But, I would also thank you in that reality.
no subject
while he sips, they get to their actual cleaning, though they never step too far away.]
He cares a great deal for you. [that much is obvious, considering the bracelet and the way clive grieved for luca so similarly to kiera.] He'll understand that you have struggles, just the same as I'm sure he does.
no subject
Unfortunately, talking it out was going to be the only way it ever cleared up.]
You know... [He isn't deliberately changing the subject but... Hey, it's relevant.] I thanked you already, for remaining with Clive. But now that I have heard more, I feel I should do so again.
I know you, Kiera. You were in rough shape. That you allowed him in at all... it means a lot. I am glad he seems to have your approval.
no subject
at some point, they drop it casually, half turned away, wiping a spill off further down the bar.]
He saw me. Without the eyepatch or the glamour. Hasn't said a word to me about it, then or since. I think I might forgo them entirely.
no subject
It's a hard habit to break, even here in the Grove.
Still, the fact that they follow it up with a desire to cast the effort aside presumably bodes well, even if it sits uncomfortably at first.]
I can talk to him, if you want. [Which, speaking of...] What... do you want? No one would harm you here but...
no subject
[as nonchalant as they play it, it's a terrifying prospect for kiera. they've spent their entire life hiding different parts of themself from those around them just to stay alive. but... hm.]
I wouldn't say I want to expose myself, but logically -- the people here didn't bat an eyelash at your part-timer, and there are others who've committed far greater sins than simply existing and still been welcomed. [hats off to you, affo!]
... I simply think history has shown time and again that hiding it only causes trouble, and I would like to be of greater use to you. That means, at least in this world, being more open about my capabilities.
no subject
[But Luca's face shifts into something of a scowl. He crosses his arms over his chest.]
You are free to do what you wish. But don't you dare make it about being of use to me, Ki. I don't need your abilities. I just need you.
no subject
Perhaps that was poor wording on my part. I only think that this is the best way to be here for you, going forward. [who knows if their logic is sound, though. they've been known to do quite impulsive things, especially after bouncing back from things like... last month. luca probably hasn't seen anything quite so drastic out of them, though.]
Maybe I'm just tired of walking into things! We take depth perception for granted, you know.
no subject
[He remains unconvinced. So unconvinced that he slips out of his chair and — sways just a little? Shut up. He's always been a lightweight, they both know it.]
That isn't much better, you know. You have been here for me for over a year now, all without exposing yourself. Clearly you can manage my impulses without any of your skills.
You have to promise me that I am the furthest thing from your mind when considering this. Otherwise I will not accept it. [And with a grunt, he adds:] Otherwise you'll be walking into my fist repeatedly.
no subject
Sit down, Luca. [the tone is that of a scolding parent.]
Well over a year, and what have I done besides gather information, follow you into the forest once, and sit around drinking and waiting for something terrible to happen to you?
I'm not promising you anything.
no subject
You convinced me to not kill Zonari. Maybe you had some help from the g- from Mamika. But I would not have followed her command alone.
I've... healed because of you, Kiera. So do not sell yourself so short.
After Fam Meet
Care for a walk?
no subject
It'll help my nerves. [they say once out of earshot of anyone else. at least i hope it will, they don't say aloud.]
no subject
[He keeps a healthy distance between the two of them. And maybe it's a little easier to say what comes next.]
I am... sure you have realized it but. Clive is gone.
no subject
I saw the tavern. But you seem... alright? [it's almost suspicious. nothing like foul play, but the fact that luca isn't losing his mind in the forest or going near comatose with grief in his quarters is very odd -- especially when paired with his new appearance.]
no subject
[There's no forest to look to here. Instead, he glances up at the sky.]
I tore into the woods. Zahliya tried to stop me so I - [His words halt, then quiver.] I hurt him. Not physically, mind you. And when that wasn't enough, I tore into Zonari next.
[His shoulders tremble just slightly.]
I exhausted myself in the woods. I wanted that thing to find me.
no subject
luca is quick to specify that he didn't physically harm zahliya, but the mention of zonari immediately makes kiera's blood run cold. if he picked a fight with her, surely she'd aim to finish it. and although kiera still believes the gargoyle could be of use, and admittedly enjoys her company, more than anything, they worry for luca's wellbeing.]
Did she hurt you? Did the Forest hurt you?
no subject
[His hands shift, wrapping around one another and fiddling anxiously, almost. He casts a look over his shoulder, just to make sure they're still there. It's only once he's assured himself of that much that he continues...]
Eventually I collapsed. Hit my head. And while I was there, I dreamed. [He turns to face them fully.] I dreamed of home. Of how things would have been if we had stayed. Months passed. And at the end of it all, I -
[He draws in a breath. He's had to acknowledge his newfound gifts, but actually speaking the words aloud? He hasn't let himself do so.]
I killed the Phoenix.
[His eyes blaze with the claimed power, evidence enough of the truth.]
no subject
once the surprise wears off, their face and their gaze falls. they've failed him, time and time again. he had to do it all himself.]
... I'm sorry.
no subject
[He knows they're afraid, but he holds his hands out to them all the same. His smile is warm and earnest. There is so much light radiating from him, happiness. Comfort, at last, within his own skin.]
You were there, with me. You never let me face it alone.
[He doesn't add that there was one other. Not yet. Let this be a happy conversation between them for once.]
no subject
I was? I --
[their voice cracks, and they laugh once in shame. it's been an age since that happened.]
... I'm glad. Thank you for letting me help. I'm sorry I don't remember.
no subject
[He just gives a nod. He doesn't mention the way her face had contorted as the memory faded, as if something had struck her. He doesn't bring it up, because he doesn't want her to worry. Not when it could have just as easily been a muscle ache or hangover.]
You went through hell for me, Kiera. And I am so sorry that I ever resented you.
[Because he had, even if he'd never spoke it aloud. Resented her in the same way he'd resented Zahliya. He'd held them both to a standard they could never achieve, because he never dared ask for help.]
I wouldn't be here without you.
[He squeezes her hands, even if all he really wants to do is pull her in for a tight hug. Maybe she'll see the way his arms flex and relax with the desire.]
It has been strange, though. I still feel that grief, and I know it should be brighter. Angrier. But at the same time, I have experienced several months. I have healed, even without realizing it.
no subject
they know luca's body language when he wants affection, and by this point they have no qualms in pulling him into a tight hug.]
Don't apologize. I would do anything for you. [she doesn't say that she already knew some part of him resented her. it would only be twisting the knife, and she doesn't hold it against him. if she was in his place, she would despise her.]
I'm... relieved that time has made it a little easier for you. But if you need anything from me, to help more...
[they let the offer hang in the air for a moment before releasing him so they can look him in the eye once more.]
... Did you mean what you said? You want to be -- the Sun Goddess's Priest? [surely he understands how strange it is for kiera to wrap her head around, especially after luca admits to having finally killed the god he has resented for so long.]
no subject
[Including, hilariously enough, potentially finding someone new? He can't imagine that conversation is going to go well, though. He doesn't want to ruin this moment.
Instead, he nods in response to her question.]
I was considering it even before all of this. The guardians here all serve the goddesses, and they were so kind to me. [He holds his arm up, showing off the bracelet still there.] If they trust her, then I trust her. Especially since both Clive and Joshua were also willing to cast their lot behind her.
... and, maybe I want to see for myself, that there can be good deities out there.
no subject
You can tell me when you're ready.
[his explanation regarding beiwe, she takes in silently, brows furrowed and lips pulled into a straight line. even despite clive, the guardians, and everyone, it's difficult to believe entirely, but... kiera is with luca. she always has been, and always will be.]
We can see together, then. I want to help.
no subject
[For now, Luca takes their hand, leading them toward Arcadia. Maybe he moves just a little slower, lingering in the moment. He's grateful, so grateful for everything Kiera has done for him. He feels like he hasn't been able to tell them that enough.
He does pause midstep, though. He turns to look at her, then looks back down. If his eyes glimmer faintly with a sheen of tears, that's between him and himself, thank you.]
Only if you're sure. You have dealt with enough at the hands of other gods.
no subject
I'm sure. [to use his own words against him...] If you trust her, I do, too. With my life. [they don't say with his life, but that's part of the reason they're here. to support him, and still have his back should everything else go to shit.]
no subject
[He grimaces at that.]
I don't suppose you'll stand by me through that will you.
no subject
If you want me there, I will.
no subject
[After they've talked about so much more. For now he leads them into Arcadia and closes the door firmly behind him. Hopefully that'll discourage anyone from coming in and asking questions.]
no subject
rather than make fun of him for that, though, they quirk a brow in his direction.]
Back to work already?
no subject
[He winks, before reaching up to grab a bottle, then a small jar. He keeps his back to her as he mixes a sweet, bubbling rose with a pinch of edible glitter, then hands it over to her.]
Here. You're going to need it.
[He inhales, bracing his arms against the bar itself.]
An emissary followed me back to Renova. One that I... knew.
no subject
they very nearly choke on it at this revelation, though.]
An Emissary? [their mind gets away from them. they don't want to imagine why luca would "know" one.] Luca...
no subject
[He winces before he continues, knowing that Kiera will likely try to wring his neck. Or at least check to see if his sanity was intact.]
He... is not as bad as you might think. He helped me, too.
no subject
I'm sure they would want to know more so that they could harm you. What did this Emissary do that was so helpful?
no subject
He rolls a few words on his tongue, before offering...]
The Phoenix possessed me. Tried to drag me to Castilla. You chased me tirelessly and freed me from its grasp, but we were too weak to get back. You sent Polaris for help. He came to save us.
[That was the story he had been told.]
no subject
kiera is silent for a long time, swallowing damn near all of their glass in one go. when they finish and finally speak, they're not looking at him. it isn't that they don't believe and trust him, they don't understand their own choices.]
Why would I ever trust an Emissary when we were both vulnerable?
no subject
And yet he'd already begun to carve out a home there with him. With the emissary.
Kiera wouldn't accept it, had already railed against it back home. He carefully hedges around it, hoping the second glass he pours her is enough of a distraction.]
Because - he and I are close. Because I trusted him. And because... you didn't really have a choice. You sent Polaris for help. She has a terrible sense of humor.
no subject
then they turn their head up to look luca directly in the eye.]
"Close." You're telling me half-truths, Luc.
no subject
He can't make the words form. He tries something else instead.]
He's a dhampir, you know. I accused him of working with - with her. Nearly got my teeth kicked in for it. Damn near had another emissary on our doorstep as a result.
[Right. There's also that, too.]
There's... a lot you've missed, Ki.
no subject
What the fuck do you mean he's a dhampir? How could he not be working for her?!
no subject
[He looks to their hands, then reaches out. He lays his own over theirs, warmer than ever. He knows it isn't enough assurance. Hell, he's certain this fact alone will terrify them when they learn as much. But he offers it all the same.]
The other emissary. Her name was Laurentia, once. Laurentia Aurelius. My ancestor.
no subject
and just as he suspects, ice runs up kiera's spine as they listen, and struggle to wrap their head around what another living aurelius serving the leviathan could possibly mean. what this person spurning the phoenix centuries ago, and surviving to this day, as a high-ranking cataegan officer, could mean.
for once, their lips are parted in utter silence and their eyes wide with shock.]
no subject
I dreamed about her, a few months ago. Here, I mean. It was one of the Phoenix's memories. I saw her attack it. I think - [He swallows, throat bobbing.] She's the reason the Phoenix became so weak. Why the Aurelius family shrank so terribly. Even now, with all its power, it's nothing compared to what I have seen from other Blessed.
no subject
Luca... this makes you their tool at best. Their target at worst. Please tell me you don't actually trust them.
no subject
[He doesn't know, can't say for certain, but he has a terrible feeling about her. He won't vocalize as much to Kiera, though he wouldn't be surprised if she figured it out on her own.]
Him, though... [He tries to offer a smile. It wobbles at the edges.]
He has had plenty of opportunities to kill me. To do worse. And aside from when I was trying to prove a point, he never did.
no subject
and it only gets worse, apparently! kiera is the one to break contact, pulling her hand away from him to ball both of hers into fists at her side.]
What do you mean, "when you were trying to prove a point?!"
no subject
[He takes a step back. The other arm wraps around him, now a solid embrace for himself. He feels no small amount of shame for his actions back then. After chewing on his lip for a long moment, he finally offers:]
With how strong the Leviathan was, I had hoped that perhaps it could set me free. I wanted to show him my curse, in the hopes that he could help me break it. So...
[He motions vaguely.]

... their muscles slacken once more, and they're hit with a tidal wave of regret, seeing luca once again draw into himself. between their guilt and the shock of everything, their hand trembles slightly as they lay it on the bar once more, palm up. he doesn't have to take it if he's no longer willing.]
... I'm sorry. This is all... a lot, but I'm being selfish. What do you need from me?
no subject
I just need you. You don't even have to trust me. Just don't... go anywhere. [He takes a deep breath.] Because I haven't even told you the worst part.
no subject
What could possibly be worse?
no subject
[He cracks a humorless smile. To be honest, he looks scared more than anything.]
The Emissary and I are - [A shrug.] Not together. But we have been.
no subject
... when their face twists not into rage, but disgust.]
Luca! You fucked a fish?!
no subject
[But Luca's face blazes with heat. He releases Kiera's hand, opting to instead shrink down. Now in a crouch, he wraps his arms around his knees, then presses his forehead to them as well. It's only once he's in that position that he mumbles.]
But yes. Several times.
no subject
after taking some time to breathe deeply, kiera leans over the bar to glare at luca's pathetic form. their next word is hissed, but surely he'll find the humor underneath it all.]
Harlot.
no subject
Sure, it's wide and loose and has no real force behind it. But still.]
Kiera!!!
no subject
Oh, come, now! I deserve to say it to you at least once, all things considered!
no subject
[Like Kiera, Luca can't help but laugh. It's a light, delighted sound. Probably the clearest they've heard him laugh in a long time.]
no subject
Many men and women, yes! But no fish!
no subject
You're such a bitch, Kiera.
[Said with a smirk.]
no subject
Very mature, Lord Aurelius!
no subject
[He says while sticking his tongue out.]
zonari :)))
also, it's fucking hot and sandy lately, so their outfit is showing even more skin than usual. for no other reason than that, honest. ready and waiting, eager to usher zonari inside the door to let minimum "air conditioning" (read: constant wind and ice swirling about) out of the house.]
Come iiin, it's so miserable out there!
no subject
Kiera, though, she does like. Enough to put weird little spells on, enough to actually let them into her memory despite the fact she was very well aware she could shut it off or change her mindscape at any time to hide things. Very strange developments to get her interested in someone... the food is just another way to get at the goal here. Sure, she'll eat, whatever.
Anyway, Zonari shows up in a suit jacket and harness and slacks, and that suit jacket is completely open in a way that says one wrong movement is going to flash a titty. By some miracle, it has not yet. So yeah, both of them down horrendous it seems.]
At least you can make the air cooler. ...and make some sort of frozen concoction, it seems.
no subject
's titties. kiera doesn't even bother trying to hide their elevator eyes or their smile. in fact, they fold one arm across their chest, rest the other elbow on it, and tuck their hand under their chin to stare at her very fruitily.]Sure, I can, but beasts, I certainly miss the snow doing all the work for me!
[with a sigh, they start moving again to pull out a chair for her. very genteel.]
Are you interested? It's made with sparkling white, I believe a Cataegan-style liquor, and fresh lemon sorbet -- the latter of which I handmade, by the way!
no subject
What is a "sorbet"? In either case, sure, I'll try it. Is it going to be bad if my natural heat winds up melting it?
[She, like her sibling, runs hot.]
no subject
Frozen and churned fruit and sugar, put simply. [they do have to think about it for a moment...] I think you might miss out on the texture, but the flavor should remain intact.
[regardless of zonari's answer, kiera will make two glasses. they have no problem with taking both for themself if she isn't interested, but they offer one to her anyway.]
no subject
There's an immediate face she makes like she somehow wasn't expecting it to be that cold. Baby's first brain freeze...]
Ow.
[She smacks her lips once, shakes it off, and tries it again. Yeah, it's still cold, but it seems she does like it if the way she keeps eating is anything to go by.]
no subject
I have to say, I'm surprised you can feel the cold. The way you speak about it, I would have imagined your heat would instantly evaporate it.
